I've decided since we now have more going on in our lives than work and school, I should probably start updating my blog again. =) Having a kid is much more interesting to talk about! It's already proven to be more exciting than one would think.
So here I sit, 3 days overdue, and really nothing has happened as far as progressing on my own. I've dilated to a whopping 1 cm, and I've been there for about 3 weeks without any change. On Monday, being overdue, I had to go in for a NST (non stress test) after my normal doctor appointment. Our little one decided not to behave very well, and his tracing was not so great. His heart rate was higher than normal, and he had a few decels. I ended up being monitored for an extra hour. I think it always helps when the nurse and the doctor go, "hmm, that's a weird tracing". It wasn't super scary, it was just not quite normal. So after the hour, they ended up sending my down to the labor and delivery unit for some extended monitoring.
Once I got down there, they also started to be concerned with my blood pressure being high (really?! how could it not be at this point?!). Since I was 40 weeks and 1 day at this point, there was the option that I would stay and just be induced. If I would have been any more dilated, it pretty much would have been a done deal, which I was totally in favor of. But after about four hours of monitoring and stressing, my doctor pretty much left it up to me. My chance of having a c section were higher due to the fact that I had an "unfavorable" cervix, but they still could have done it. I tell you what, I really hate having to make grown up decisions. =) In the end, we decided that we just didn't feel good about going forward with this induction and we went home. Who would have thought that I of all people would have said no to being induced?
So as of right now, I'm still pregnant, and if I don't go into labor by Monday, I'll go back in for a post date induction. I'm starting to think Cory and I both might go crazy before that point! I think this kid is going to make all my hair fall out before he's even born!
